NYSEG AND RG&E OUTAGE INFORMATION NOW JUST A CLICK AWAY

Rochester, NY, June 18, 2008 – Information on electricity interruptions across the NYSEG and RG&E service areas is now available online by clicking on “Outage Central” at the top of each company’s home page. 

While it may seem odd to think about having Web access when the power is out, more and more NYSEG and RG&E customers are using wireless technology or may be reporting an outage at home from work or another location where the power is on.

The new sections of the Web sites provide up-to-the-minute information on electricity outages by town and street, storm tips and safety information. In the event of extended outages, news releases and the locations of any emergency shelters and dry ice/water distribution sites are also posted at Outage Central. 

Customers may also report electricity outages through Outage Central using their telephone number, account number or secure login ID. (Natural gas emergencies and outages cannot be reported through Outage Central. NYSEG customers should call 1.800.572.1121 to report natural gas incidents; RG&E customers should call 1.800.743.1702.) And customers can report problems with streetlights using the online form at Outage Central.
