FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Brewster, NY, October 8, 2009 (6:30 a.m.) – NYSEG is completing the restoration of power to customers who were affected by the wind storms that swept through the area yesterday and last evening. As of 6:30 a.m., approximately 140 NYSEG customers are currently without electricity service; down from the more than 8,000 NYSEG customers in southern Dutchess, Putnam and northern Westchester counties who lost power due to this storm. Those customers who remain without power are scattered across the three county area; all customers are expected to have their electric service restored by 3:00 p.m. today.
John Wittmann III, NYSEG’s manager of regional operations, attributed the speed of the restoration effort to the response of local crews and the very quick mobilization of support from utility crews from other areas. “We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding while we went about our work, and we would also like to thank the highway departments, volunteer firefighters and everyone else who assisted in these restoration efforts,” stated Wittmann III, NYSEG’s.
