NYSEG RESTORING POWER TO CUSTOMERS IMPACTED BY SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brewster, NY, June 7, 2010 (6:00 a.m.) – NYSEG crews, working around the clock have restored power to over 8,000 customers who lost electric service as a result of the thunderstorms and associated strong winds that hit the area yesterday. Strong winds, with gusts in excess of 50 mph, caused widespread power outages across NYSEG’s service area in southern Dutchess, Putnam and northern Westchester counties.  As of 5:00 a.m., approximately 650 customers remain without power, primarily in the towns of Carmel, North Salem, and Somers.

Restoration efforts will continue until all customers have had their power restored. NYSEG expects that all customers will have their power restored sometime today.
