FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rochester, NY, July 16, 2010 – NYSEG is continuing to inspect its high-voltage power lines from low-flying helicopters.
The schedule for the coming weeks is:

  • Week of July 19: Plattsburgh and Mechanicville regions
  • Week of July 26: Lancaster and Lockport regions
  • Week of August 2: Elmira region
  • Week of August 9: Geneva and Auburn regions
  • Week of August 23: Oneonta region

In the event of inclement weather the schedule will be pushed out.

“We are conducting routine inspections of our transmission lines to help ensure safe, reliable delivery of electricity to
our customers,” said Walt Matyjas, director - electric distribution at NYSEG and RG&E. “These high-voltage power lines
are the backbone of our electricity delivery system and our goal is to spot potential problems and correct them before they inconvenience our customers.”

Matyjas said using helicopters makes inspecting the power lines quick and efficient, and the helicopters provide an
excellent vantage point.

NYSEG has already completed transmission line inspections this summer in the Binghamton, Hornell, Ithaca, Brewster and
Liberty regions.
