NYSEG Awards $400,000 Grant to Tessy Plastics for Manufacturing Expansion at Elbridge Plant

Grant Is Part of NYSEG/RG&E’s $12 Million Annual Investment in Economic Development
Will Shift Manufacturing From North Carolina to New York and Create/Protect 100 Jobs

Rochester, NY – NYSEG recently awarded a $400,000 economic development grant to Tessy Plastics as part of Tessy’s $12 million manufacturing facility expansion in Elbridge. The expansion will enable some production to shift from North Carolina to upstate New York, protecting 50 existing jobs and creating 50 new positions.

The award is part of the approximately $12 million NYSEG and RG&E will invest annually in economic development in upstate New York during the next three years.

“This is exactly what the NYSEG and RG&E economic development programs are designed for,” said Mark Lynch, president of NYSEG and RG&E. “These grants are great catalysts that encourage new capital investments which protect and create jobs in upstate New York.”

“This grant from NYSEG is an important component of our expansion plan which will add 90,000 square feet of manufacturing, administration and warehouse space to our Elbridge headquarters,” said Ed Pietruniak, vice president, finance & administration. “That increased capacity will help drive our growth in Elbridge for the next decade and beyond.”

Funding for this assistance was approved by the New York Public Service Commission as part of the new NYSEG/RG&E rate agreements that went into effect in September 2010. According to these agreements, NYSEG and RG&E are committed to invest approximately $12 million per year, for the next three years, in economic development grants to businesses that want to expand in, or relocate to, upstate New York. .
