NYSEG Distributing 200 Free Fans Through Broome County Meals on Wheels
(July 25, 2011) – NYSEG is partnering with the two Broome County divisions of Meals on Wheels to distribute 200 fans to help some meal recipients who don’t have air conditioning or adequate fans.
“Extreme heat can cause serious health problems, so we are pleased to be working with Meals on Wheels to bring some measure of comfort to those customers who may be suffering most,” said Mark S. Lynch, president of NYSEG and RG&E.
The fan distribution program will be rolled out across the remainder of NYSEG’s service area and in the RG&E service area over the next two weeks. The companies expect to distribute a total of 1,100 fans.
Broome County Meals on Wheels recipients must:
• Be 60 or older and live in the county.
• Be incapacitated due to accident, illness or frailty.
• Be unable to prepare meals.
• Have no one available on a regular basis to prepare meals.
