NYSEG to Get a Bird’s-Eye View of Brewster Division Electric Transmission Lines
– Having restored nearly 109,000 electricity services that were interrupted by the unprecedented damage from the “October Surprise” snowstorm, on Wednesday NYSEG personnel will have their eyes in the sky to take a close look at the company’s Brewster Division electric transmission lines.
“Getting a bird’s-eye view of our transmission lines from helicopters is a fast and efficient way for us to spot potential issues we may have missed during the power restoration effort following the storm,” said Mark S. Lynch, president of NYSEG and RG&E (Rochester Gas and Electric). “Our goal is to address any issues before they can cause a power interruption and inconvenience our customers.”
NYSEG regularly uses helicopters to patrol both electric transmission lines and natural gas transmission line rights of way to help ensure safe, reliable service.
