NYSEG Taking to the Sky to Help Ensure Safe, Reliable Service

Plattsburgh, NY – NYSEG, a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, will be inspecting its high-voltage power lines from low-flying helicopters over the next three days in Clinton, Essex, Franklin and Hamilton counties. In the event of inclement weather the schedule will be pushed out.

“We are conducting routine inspections of our transmission lines to help ensure safe, reliable delivery of electricity to our customers,” said Mark S. Lynch, president of NYSEG and RG&E. “These high-voltage power lines are the backbone of our electricity delivery system. Our goal is to spot potential problems and correct them before they inconvenience our customers.”

Lynch said using helicopters makes for quick and efficient transmission line inspections.

In this instance, NYSEG will also be using high-tech infrared scanning to enhance the inspections.
