NYSEG Has Restored 91% of Storm-Related Service Interruptions from Thursday’s Storm
Additional Service Interruptions in Liberty Division Due to Storm Activity Today

Rochester, NY – NYSEG has restored more than 85,000 of the 93,000 services interrupted* as a result of Thursday evening’s storm that caused extensive and widespread damage in NYSEG’s Elmira, Binghamton, Liberty and Brewster service areas. Approximately 5,200 services are currently interrupted in NYSEG’s Elmira Division. (*The number of total service interruptions includes services that may have been interrupted more than once.)
NYSEG expects to complete 75% of its service restoration work in the Elmira Division by midnight tonight and more than 90% of restoration work by midnight Sunday.
A mid-day thunderstorm today caused 3,300 additional outages in NYSEG’s Liberty Division (parts of Sullivan, Orange, Delaware and Ulster Counties). Currently, 1,800 outages remain; a detailed assessment of today’s outages continues while crews are switching circuits to restore power to as many of the new outages as possible. Restoration is expected sometime tomorrow.
