NYSEG’s Seneca West Natural Gas Project Increases Reliability of Supply, Ensures Competitive Prices
– NYSEG, a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, has begun operating its new Seneca West Pipeline Interconnect natural gas transmission project in Chemung County.
“The new facilities will increase the reliability of natural gas supply to the Elmira area and enable us to continue to provide natural gas at competitive prices,” said Mark S. Lynch, president and CEO of NYSEG and RG&E. “This project is a prominent example of the ongoing significant investments we are making in our electricity and natural gas delivery systems. Our customers are clearly the beneficiaries of these investments.”
The approximately $11.7 million project consists of:
• Approximately 5 miles of natural gas transmission pipeline from Inergy’s Seneca Lake Gas Storage West Pipeline in the Town of Big Flats through the Town of Horseheads to the Village of Horseheads.
• Two new meter and regulator stations – one at each end of the pipeline.
