NYSEG Work at Kents Falls and Mill C Hydro Plants Will Affect Saranac River Water Level
– NYSEG, a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, announced today that starting on or about October 5, the company will lower the water level in the Saranac River between its Kents Falls and Mill C dams in the Town of Plattsburgh to make improvements to the Kents Falls spillway structure. In addition, on or about October 8, the company will lower the water level in the Saranac River upstream of the Cadyville dam to survey sections of the Cadyville spillway structure.
To ensure worker safety during these improvements the water will be kept at a reduced level in the adjacent stretch of the river for the duration of each project. In particular, those living on the Saranac River in the Cadyville area should take note of the reduction in water level.
NYSEG urges those who take advantage of recreational opportunities near the company’s hydroelectric generating facilities to use caution and be safe.
All work is expected to be complete on Friday, October 10 and water levels should be back to normal on Sunday, October 12.
