NYSEG Crews Working Hard to Achieve Full Restoration of Power for Customers in Brewster and Liberty Divisions

BREWSTER, NY — May 20, 2018 12:30 p.m. — NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR), continues restoration efforts to customers affected by the severe thunderstorm and area tornadoes earlier in the week. As of 12:30 p.m., approximately 3,600 customers remain without power in the region, primarily in the hardest hit areas of Putnam and Sullivan counties.

A workforce of more than 2,100 company, contractor and mutual assistance personnel are working safely and efficiently to restore power across the region and NYSEG continues to add restoration personnel and will continue to do so until the work is complete. Estimated time of Restorations (ETRs) are being updated throughout the day for those hardest hit areas. NYSEG’s goal is to restore power to all customers by the end of today.

Power has been restored to the majority of customers in Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, and Sullivan counties with the exception of a few highly damaged areas that require rebuilding of customer and company infrastructure. Crews continue to work on distribution segments to repair trouble. Customers may experience temporary service interruptions over the next couple of days if crews need to de-energize portions of the system to safely complete restoration work to other customers. Crews will continue to work after all customers are restored to complete a system-wide patrol to ensure that all repairs are complete.

Current customer outages by county are as follows:
Putnam: 2,879
Sullivan: 593
Westchester: 71
Orange: 53
Dutchess: 39
Ulster: 13

Localized information on Estimated Times for Restoration (ETRs) is available at nyseg.com/Outages/outageinformation.html as it becomes available.
