HELICOPTER PATROLS TO HELP NYSEG ENSURE RELIABILITY
Mechanicville, NY, May 18, 2009 – You may notice a helicopter flying low over parts of Saratoga, Washington, Rensselaer and Columbia counties on Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21, weather permitting.
“We will be conducting a routine inspection of our high-voltage power lines to help ensure safe, reliable delivery of electricity to our customers,” said Mark Leta, NYSEG’s regional operations manager.
“High-voltage power lines are the backbone of our electricity delivery system,” Leta said. “Our goal is to spot potential problems and correct them before they inconvenience our customers.”
Leta said using helicopters makes inspecting high-voltage power lines quick and efficient, and the helicopters provide an excellent vantage point.
