Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to suspend the refrigerator and freezer recycling program.
Updated: January 11, 2016
At the end of November, we were notified by JACO Environmental, our refrigerator and freezer recycling program vendor, they would not be able to honor all of the checks they had issued to our program participants. As a result, we attempted to reach out to all affected participants to notify them of the situation.
We are making progress in developing a plan to ensure all affected customers have a resolution. At this time, the following steps are being taken.
- Incentive checks are being reissued and mailed to all remaining affected customers late in the week of January 11, 2016. Please allow two weeks for delivery.
- Customers signed up to have their refrigerator and/or freezer picked up and recycled will be receiving phone calls to schedule an appointment. We expect these calls and appointments to take place over the next two months.
New incentive checks have been mailed to:
- Customers who had their refrigerators picked up, but were never issued incentive checks. We continue to update this listing and are issuing checks as these customers are identified.
- Customers who cashed their incentive checks and had them subsequently returned (on or before December 8, 2015). These customers received an additional $20 to assist with the associated bank fees.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience in this matter.
Although the refrigerator and freezer recycling program is on hold for now, we are continuing to look for new ways to provide our residential customers with an energy efficiency program that will make saving electricity easy.
