Mechanicville, NY, December 18, 2008 (11:30 a.m.) – NYSEG has restored power to nearly all of the customers who had lost power as a result of severe damage to the company’s electricity delivery system from the devastating ice storm that struck the area last Thursday and Friday. Crews are working on all of the remaining outages at this time, which are primarily located in or around Copake, Claverack, Craryville and Hillsdale.

As NYSEG completes its power restoration work, customers who still do not have power are asked to call 1.800.572.1131.

“As this storm emergency winds down, there are numerous people who deserve thanks,” said Mark Leta, NYSEG’s regional operations manager. “The invaluable assistance of law enforcement and emergency services personnel, local officials, highway crews and countless others made our work much easier. We also certainly appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding as we continue to go about our work.  Our employees are grateful for the community support they have received.”

During this event, NYSEG provided over 100,000 pounds of dry ice and two tractor trailer loads of bottled water in their service area in Columbia, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington counties.
