Elmira, New York – Elmira College will honor NYSEG for its generous grant to support the Elmira College Health Sciences Center in a ceremony on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in historic Cowles Hall. The Economic Development grant of $400,000 was approved through NYSEG’s Utility Infrastructure Investment Program in October of 2014. Elmira College will dedicate the Adult Simulation Laboratory on the third floor of the Center to NYSEG in recognition of the grant. Elected officials and regional leaders in health care, education, and
business have been invited to attend.
The grant from NYSEG to support the state-of-the-art Health Sciences Center is vital to creating the innovative educational space needed for health sciences students to learn to become leaders in fields that are experiencing exponential growth. The grant also spurs economic development in the Southern Tier of New York and the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania, where nurses and health
sciences professionals are in short supply. Elmira College is proud to partner with NYSEG in a shared commitment to improve the quality and delivery of health care in this region and beyond.

NYSEG’s generosity allows our students to be able to experience an immersive patient care management simulation in which they can directly apply what they are learning – theoretically, in a clinical context. The state-of-the-art simulation room enables students to implement clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills to realistic patient scenarios in a safe environment.
