Current Site Activities

Sevenson Environmental Services, NYSEG's remediation contractor, continues excavation and backfilling in Excavation Areas 2A and 2B. All excavated soils are being shipped to ESMI in Ford Edward, NY for thermal treatment. Thermally treated soils meeting the site's re-use criteria as defined in the site's Record of Decision will be back-hauled from ESMI for use as backfill at the site.

Installation of sheetpiling in Excavation Area 3A will be completed the week of December 15, 2008. Approximately 3 to 4 feet of soil will be excavated from that area to allow installation of the upper sheetpile wale. Further excavation in that area will proceed following completion of excavation and backfilling in Areas 2A and 2B.
