How can I add/change my mailing address or telephone number(s) online?

What is customer meter reading?
This service is for customers who prefer to receive bills for actual energy use on the months we would normally send an estimated bill. Customer meter reading is also for customers that have inside meters and it's not convenient to be home when the meter reader arrives.

How will I know when to read the meter(s)?
A reminder can be sent to you via an automated phone call or a postcard. When it's time to read the meter(s), we’ll send the reminder via the method you selected.

How do I read the meter?
Instructions are found in our How to Read Your Meter Brochure.

How do I send in my customer meter reading online?
With a Login ID and Password you can use our personalized prefilled form. Just click on our Send Us Your Meter Reading form.

I entered my meter reading online incorrectly; can I send it again with the correct reading?
You can submit your corrected reading(s) by using our secure Write to NYSEG form. Indicate that you would like to change the reading(s) previously sent to us on the Send Us Your Meter Reading form and provide your correct reading(s).

If I have more than one NYSEG account, how can I send readings for multiple meters?
You can have multiple accounts associated with a single Login ID and password. Once you’ve logged in, you can access all your NYSEG accounts (and all those you are authorized by other account holders to access). Just select one account at a time and then use the personalized meter reading form to submit readings for all meters on that account.  

> Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

What is EFT?
With Electronic Funds Transfer NYSEG will automatically deduct your NYSEG payment from your checking account 23 business days after we mail your bill. The actual date that money will be deducted from your account will be noted on each billing statement you receive from us. Enroll by printing our EFT Enrollment Form and mail it to us or fill out the form on the back of your bill.

If I sign up for NYSEG's e-Bill service or enroll with another online biling provider, can I also enroll in NYSEG's Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) service and have my bill payments automatically deducted from my checking account?
Yes. If you're already paying your bill online through a billing service provider and want to enroll in NYSEG's EFT service, just print our EFT Enrollment Form, complete it and mail it to us.

Does NYSEG provide home energy audits?
Although NYSEG does not conduct home energy audits, many independent companies offer these services. They can usually be found in the Yellow Pages under "Energy Conservation" or "Energy Management Consultants.”

Does NYSEG offer rebates?
Although NYSEG does not offer rebates, we do support Energy $mart programs that promote energy efficient products and related services. For more information, visit www.getenergysmart.org.

How do I sign in to my account and/or create a Login ID and Password?

  • Click on Log In.
  • Follow the instructions as they are displayed to log in or to create your Online Services Login ID and Password.
  • To create a Login ID and Password, you’ll need to enter your NYSEG account number.

What if I forget my Login ID?

  • Click on Forgot Your Login ID?
  • Enter an account number associated with your Login ID and your Password.
  • Your Login ID will be displayed and you will be able to access our Online Services.

How can I change my Password?

How can I have my computer remember my Login ID and Password?

There are two ways:

  • Click on Log In and check the "Remember my Login ID & Password" box, or
  • Click on My Online Profile and click on the "Change to On" link.

How can I disable the "Remember my Login ID and Password" feature?

  • Click on My Online Profile.
  • At "Remember my Login ID and Password," click on "Change to Off”.
  • The next time you sign in to our Online Services, you will need to enter your Login ID and password.

Can I have more than one account associated with my Login ID?

  • If you have multiple accounts, NYSEG has automatically grouped them for you. Once you create your secure Login ID and password, you will be able to access all of your accounts when you log in. If you have authorized people to access your accounts, they can create their own Login IDs and passwords as authorized users and only access the accounts that you've given them permission to see.

How can I provide/change my e-mail address?

Click on Update Contact Information and type your e-mail address in the "Additional Contact Information" section.

> Natural Gas Supply

Where can I find information about choosing a natural gas marketer?
New rates are in effect for all NYSEG natural gas customers. Your natural gas bill now has supply and delivery charges listed separately. To learn more, view our natural gas tariffs or check the back of page 1 of your bill for definitions of terms that appear
on your bill.

> Payment Services

Can I pay my bill with a credit card?
While we do not accept credit cards for regular NYSEG bill payments, we do offer many payment options. You can pay your bill online, make a payment at a pay agent, mail your payment to our payment center, or have your payment automatically deducted from your checking account through Electronic Funds Transfer.

How do I discontinue service in my name?

  • Click on Turn Off Service and follow the instructions.
  • You may also call our Customer Relations Center at 1.800.572.1111, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

How can I start service in my name?

  • Click on Turn On Service and follow the instructions.

Will a deposit be required?
We may require a deposit in the amount of two month's electricity and/or natural gas use. If a deposit is required, a customer service representative will contact you.

> View Your Bill

View your bill allows you to view a facsimile of your most recent bill. With a Login ID and Password, you can view your most recent bill. Just click on View Your Bill. Or you can enroll in NYSEG's e-Bill service and always view your bills online at nyseg.com
