NYSEG’s Power Partner program helps income eligible members of our community reduce their energy costs. By working with state and local agencies, Power Partner offers energy assistance programs that help income eligible families. Helping our neighbors is not new to NYSEG – we’ve been your community partner since 1852.
How can Power Partner help me?
If you are eligible, it can help you:
- Save at least $114/year on your NYSEG electricity bill by lowering your monthly basic service charge.
- Save an additional $30 to $70 per year on your monthly basic service charge if you are also a NYSEG natural gas customer.
- Even out your energy costs by enrolling you in our monthly Budget Billing Plan.
- Develop a plan to reduce any back balance on your NYSEG account by:
- Matching, dollar for dollar, payments you make above your regular monthly bill. This match is limited to $100 in a 12-month period.
- Placing your unpaid balance on hold. However, you'll need to pay a minimum of $60 every 12 months toward the amount placed on hold. We suggest a monthly payment of $5 or more over and above your regular bill.
- Identify other community-based programs and services you may be eligible for.
Am I eligible to participate in Power Partner?
You are, if:
You have a NYSEG electricity account, or electricity and natural gas account in your name for your primary residence, and your yearly household gross income (before taxes) is no more than the amount shown below:
Categorical HEAP Eligibility:
A household is income eligible for HEAP if at least one member of the HH receives PA, Food Stamps or Code A SSI Benefits. When applying for EHEAP, clients must take their current shut-off notice.
* For family units with more than 11 members: Add $6,960 per year -OR- add $580 per month for each additional member.

- You’re under no obligation to stay in the program after you’ve enrolled. You may end your participation at any time.
- If you miss two monthly payments, you will be removed from the program and you won’t be eligible to re-enroll.
- If you received a regular Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) grant in the past, you are still eligible for that benefit.
