NYSEG and RG&E Donate $46,300 to Food Banks and Pantries Across New York

BINGHAMTON, NY — October 18, 2022 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) recently donated a total of $46,300 to 14 food security organizations across New York state, including food banks and pantries. The donations are part of the companies’ Corporate Donation Program to support and care for the communities that they serve.

“Food banks and pantries fill some of the most basic and critical needs for our communities, and we are proud to support them in these efforts,” said David Gridley, Director of Government & Community Relations at NYSEG and RG&E. “Their programming goes well beyond providing nourishment to include school-based programs, nutrition education and community outreach. To us, serving our communities also entails supporting the organizations that connect people with much-needed resources.”

In total, NYSEG and RG&E provided donations to 14 food banks and pantries across their service areas, including:

  • Community Place of Greater Rochester
  • FeedMore WNY
  • Food Bank of Central New York
  • Food Bank of the Southern Tier
  • Foodlink (Rochester)
  • Open Door Mission (Rochester)
  • Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York
  • Resurrection Life Fellowship Food Pantry (Buffalo)
  • Silver Creek Food Pantry
  • Somers Angels/Somers Lions Charitable Foundation
  • South Wedge Planning Committee
  • United Way of Broome County
  • UR Medicine Home Care Foundation
  • YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County/Ithaca Food Hub

In addition to NYSEG and RG&E’s donations to local food banks and pantries, the companies’ 2022 Corporate Donation Program also supported more than 25 health and welfare organizations earlier this year. The companies also support local nonprofits focused on arts and culture and education and young people, and those contributions will be announced later this year. These donations benefit every division within the NYSEG and RG&E service area.

NYSEG and RG&E’s support is enhanced by additional giving through the Avangrid Foundation, the charitable giving arm of the AVANGRID family of companies. Since 2002, the Foundation and its predecessors have invested more than $28 million in partnerships to help meet a number of community needs. In New York, the Avangrid Foundation has made more than $6.8 million in grants to nonprofit organizations, educational institutions and qualified programs during the last seven years.

NYSEG and RG&E are subsidiaries of AVANGRID, Inc.
