Highway will remain open, rolling roadblocks used to slow traffic
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — June 19, 2020 — Parts of Interstate 81 will be temporarily slowed down on Saturday June 20, 2020 as crews pull wire across the roadway as part of an infrastructure upgrade project at Bowman Lumber.
Work will begin at 6:00 a.m. and is scheduled for 12 hours. At certain times, traffic control vehicles will initiate a rolling road block to slow traffic along the interstate. Traffic will not be stopped, but slowed to a lower rate of speed while crews pull the power lines across the road. The roadblocks will occur four times.
