9 PM NYSEG Announces Estimated Time of Restoration for Liberty Division

Crews working as quickly and safely as possible to finish the job

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — April 4, 2024, 9 p.m. — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) crews are nearing complete restoration after yesterday’s severe winds and wintry weather. Currently, approximately 1,391 customers remain without power in the company’s Liberty division, which includes Orange, Sullivan, Delaware, and Ulster counties. NYSEG has announced that it expects to restore the majority of its remaining impacted customers in the Liberty division by noon tomorrow, April 5, 2024. The company encourages customers to check online for their individual estimated times of restoration which will be updated as efforts continue.

Today, crews were spread throughout the division making critical repairs as safely and quickly as possible. This has included setting poles to replace the 18 damaged in the storm and completing repairs to the 134 downed wires across the region. Efforts will continue into the evening and overnight until every customer is restored.

NYSEG encourages any customer without power after restoration is complete to contact the company at 800.572.1131 to report the issue and allow crews to investigate. Once every customer is restored, the company will continue to fix remaining damage that occurred but did not affect customers or the reliability of service. That will then be followed by a full system sweep of all affected circuits to look for damage or issues that may have been missed but that could cause service disruptions in the future, such as tree limbs on power lines or leaning trees.

NYSEG will continue to provide updates throughout the event to the general public on the company's social media channels (Facebook and X). The company also offers customers the following reminders to stay safe if power outages do occur.
