NYSEG and RG&E Contribute More than $4.3M Since 2023 to Manufacturing Businesses Across the State
Funding has created and retained more than 9,000 jobs in the Company’s service area
Powering NY plan addresses capacity, ensuring business development and regional economic growth
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — December 18, 2025 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) have contributed more than $4.3 million to manufacturing businesses across the state through the Manufacturing Accelerator Program (MAP) since 2023. MAP helps small to mid-sized businesses grow.
“Investments in these companies are an investment for all New Yorkers,” said Manager of NYSEG and RG&E’s Economic Development Joe Sayre. “These businesses provide jobs in communities, ensuring workers can provide for their families, which also stimulates the overall economy.”
Since 2023, investments have contributed to more than 9,000 jobs in the Company’s service area. NYSEG has provided over $1.9 million in matching grant funds to MAP applicants, resulting in the creation and retention of 7,022 jobs across the Company’s service area. RG&E has provided over $2.4 million, which has created and retained 2,094 jobs across its service area.
“The Manufacturing Accelerator Program has become a critical catalyst for growth in our region’s economy,” said Nextcorp President James Senall. “Through our partnership with RG&E, NextCorps has been able to help small and mid-sized manufacturers take on productivity improvements and business growth projects that they simply wouldn’t have pursued without this support. In just 2024 and 2025, we’ve completed 100 projects with 65 manufacturers, leading to the creation and retention of 435 jobs and generating more than $79 million in combined sales impact, investment, and cost savings.”
“NYSEG’s Manufacturing Accelerator Program has been a tremendous resource for WNY manufacturers,” said Insyte Consulting President Benjamin Rand. “Since 2018, NYSEG MAP grants have provided nearly $1M to support improvement projects for more than 50 WNY manufacturers, resulting in over $875M in economic impact in our region, including over 3,350 jobs created or saved.”
"The NYSEG Manufacturing Accelerator Program is a vital resource for manufacturers. Its funding helps companies grow, innovate, and improve productivity,” said Alliance for Manufacturing and Technology’s Executive Director Carol Miller. “The MAP-supported projects have generated more than $380 million in economic impact and helped create or retain over 1,900 manufacturing jobs. MAP helps deliver real results, and our region is stronger because of it."
MAP is one component of a broader grant funding program designed to invest directly into the communities the Companies serve. Since 2023, NYSEG and RG&E have awarded more than $39 million in grants to businesses, fueling over $1.1 billion in capital investment and driving transformative economic growth across New York.
Post-pandemic, there has been an exponential surge in economic development growth across the state, which has increased energy demand. The Companies’ Powering NY plan is a $16 billion proposal to address capacity constraints to ensure future business development and regional economic growth.
