3 P.M. - NYSEG and RG&E Crews Working to Restore Power to Affected Customers
Fewer than 10,000 customers remain without power following Wednesday’s thunderstorms
More than 81,000 customers impacted since Wednesday
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — September 3, 2026, 3 p.m. — Crews for New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) continue their work to restore power to customers affected by Wednesday’s thunderstorms. More than 81,000 customers across New York have experienced service interruptions since Wednesday’s storms, and fewer than 10,000 customers currently remain without power.
Approximately 6,900 NYSEG customers are without power, including more than 5,100 in the Company’s Geneva Division, which includes Ontario, Wayne, Seneca, and Yates counties. There are nearly 2,500 RG&E customers without power, with most outages in Central and Fillmore Divisions, which includes Monroe, Orleans, Allegany, Genesee, Livingston, and Wyoming counties.
Damage to utility infrastructure has been primarily caused by fallen trees from the storm. Crews continue to assess damage and will establish estimated times of restoration based on their assessment.
NYSEG and RG&E urge customers to remain away from storm debris as it may contain downed wires or other damaged equipment. Customers should assume all downed wires are energized and dangerous and should be reported by calling NYSEG’s emergency line at 1.800.572.1131. RG&E’s line at 1.800.743.1701 or contacting 911.
