Private contractors encouraged to utilize Companies’ self-service digital tool during summer construction season
Digital tools enables contractors to apply for new service, check job status, and provides important resources to streamline projects
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — July 9, 2025 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) are encouraging private building and remodeling contractors to utilize the Companies’ self-service digital tools during the 2025 construction season for new service requests.
“Our digital tools are truly a one-stop-shop resource for contractors,” said Christine Alexander, vice president of customer service for NYSEG and RG&E. “We know that project timelines can be difficult to predict and are often affected for a variety of factors. By using these online tools, contractors and developers can streamline many processes, get real-time information, and better communicate with their customers.”
NYSEG and RG&E’s digital tools enable contractors to apply for a new service request, check the status of their project, and make payments. The automated application allows contractors to get their job number online instead of waiting for manual processing time at the contact center. They can track real-time updates on the progress of their job, plan for remaining work, and view assigned tasks without the need to contact Customer Service. Online payments simplify and allow for hassle-free, secure transactions.
The digital tools also provide other important resources for developers and contractors. Helpful tips include advice on how to choose a contractor who is right for your job. The portal also outlines the processes to add electrical service to a new home or business, including potential costs and other considerations. Contractors can view installation specs, download frequently used documents, and view a glossary of terms to aid those working on electricity or natural gas installations.
“The digital portal is an easy to use tool that has truly improved the efficiency of Pride Mark Homes work,” said Jeremy Prober, Project Coordinator at Pride Mark Homes. “It’s simple to use and has saved us time in entering multiple jobs at once. We appreciate NYSEG and RG&E developing these tools because it helps us have the most up-to-date information on our job’s progress.”
