NYSEG Completes $3.9 million Improvement of Langner Circuit in West Seneca
Upgrades benefit 2,100 customers in West Seneca
Three miles of circuit improvements to improve energy reliability and grid resiliency
WEST SENECA, N.Y. — October 22, 2025 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) has completed a three-mile rebuild of the Langner circuit, which will help improve energy reliability for approximately 2,100 customers in the Town of West Seneca. The Company invested $3.9 million to improve the circuit and this is the latest example of a completed project to help ensure consistent service to customers. This investment was funded through the company’s 2023 rate plan.
“Our goal is to always keep the power on for our customers,” said Marc Geaumont, president of NYSEG. “The Langner circuit included significant work such as pole replacement, use of tree wire, and tree trimming. Line workers rebuilt three miles of this circuit and we look forward to the positive effect it can have for our customers in West Seneca for many years to come.”
The project consists of upgrades to multiple areas of the Langner circuit in West Seneca. The first area is in the neighborhoods around Covington Drive and Kirkwood Drive. Along these two streets, there were backlot lines against a heavily treed rail trail embankment. The backlot lines were relocated to allow for new equipment, sturdier poles, and better access for crews to address potential future interruptions. Tree trimming in that area will help improve energy reliability by lowering the risk of tree-related outages.
The circuit now supports increased reliability and capacity to commercial customers around the Langner Road intersection at Ridge Road and to neighborhoods south of Fisher Road. In this area, crews installed additional remotely operable devices, which allow NYSEG to restore power more quickly during outages by isolating damaged lines. This segment also utilizes covered tree wire, which can better withstand contact from trees and branches.
The Company also conducted work to improve energy reliability, resiliency, and capacity to benefit customers on Slade Avenue, Orchard Park Road, and Potters Road. Work here included a line rebuild to improve capacity and installation of smart devices that help with energy dependability.
