7:00 PM: NYSEG Crews Continue Work to Restore Remaining Customers without Power
More than 171,000 customers affected by storm-related outages since Sunday
Restoration efforts to continue overnight
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — March 17, 2026, 7:00 p.m. — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) crews continue their work to restore power to those who are still affected this week’s storm which brought widespread heavy wind, snow, and ice through New York State. Crews have responded to outages that affected more than 171,000 customers since Sunday. Currently, there are more than 4,200 NYSEG customers without power, with the most significant impacts occurring in the Company’s Liberty division, which includes Orange, Sullivan, Delaware, and Ulster counties.
To support restoration efforts, NYSEG is working with more than 450 contracted crews, who have worked through hazardous conditions including wind, snow, and thunderstorms. Despite the hazardous conditions, crews have restored power to nearly 167,000 customers. Their work will continue until all customers have their power restored.
NYSEG urges customers to remain away from storm debris as it may contain downed wires or other damaged equipment. Customers should assume all downed wires are energized and dangerous and should be reported by calling NYSEG’s emergency line at 1.800.572.1131 or contacting 911.
NYSEG will provide regular updates to the general public until complete restoration via the Company’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and X). The Company also offers customers the following reminders to stay safe during a power outage:
