NYSEG Improves Reliability in Orchard Park with Completion of Davis Circuit
Upgrades to 2.5 miles of lines affects nearly 2,100 customers in Orchard Park
LANCASTER, N.Y. — January 22, 2026 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) has completed upgrades to the Davis circuit in Orchard Park. This $4.6 million project is vital to improving energy reliability for nearly 2,100 customers and was funded by the Company’s previous rate case.
“Our number one goal is to make sure that our customers have safe and reliable energy for their homes and businesses,” said Marc Geaumont, president of NYSEG. “Across New York, we have more than 44,000 miles of electric distribution lines. We strive to make sure that our system is updated so that it’s operating efficiently and that our neighbors can go about their daily lives uninterrupted.”
Historically, this circuit dealt with reoccurring tree and equipment-related outages, highlighting the need to invest and upgrade. NYSEG rebuilt and converted approximately one mile of lines along Ellicott Road between Philson Drive and Dennis Road. NYSEG also upgraded 1.58 miles along Armor Duells Road, California Road, Duerr Road, and Thorne Avenue. The longer line provides an alternate source of power to the Orchard Park Substation in the event of an outage.
A remotely operable protection device was also installed on Powers Road that can isolate damage and other issues in the line without affecting the rest of the circuit. NYSEG also installed 28 new transformers, six voltage regulators, and other infrastructure that supports this circuit.
Since 2023, NYSEG has invested more than $378 million in projects which help keep the power on in homes and businesses.
