NYSEG is Hosting Smart Meter Open Houses in the Oneonta Service Area

The Company will host informational open houses for customers in Norwich and Oneonta to talk about the ongoing installation of smart meters 

More than one million smart meters have already been installed across New York State 

 

Oneonta, N.Y. — May 30, 2025 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) customers in the Oneonta Division, which includes portions of Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Greene, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Otsego, Schoharie, and Ulster counties are having their meters upgraded to smart meters. The Company will host informational open houses on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 in Norwich, NY and Wednesday, June 4 , 2025 in Oneonta, NY to provide residents, business owners, and municipal officials with information about installations, including the scope of work, timeline, and customer benefits. 
 

There is no formal presentation. Customers are invited to come at any time during the event and talk to project representatives about smart meter installations.

Registration for the open houses is not required and all are welcome.  

All residential and most business customers in NYSEG’s service areas will receive the new electric smart meter and/or natural gas module. Informational displays and NYSEG representatives will be available to share more details about the installation process, answer questions, demonstrate how smart meters will provide customers with benefits such as bills based on actual energy use, faster outage detection, and better understanding of their energy usage. 
 

NYSEG expects to complete smart meter installations later this year for this area. Customers will receive information about their installation before they begin in their neighborhood.
