NYSEG Releases Estimated Restoration Times for Mechanicville Division - 9:30 pm
BINGHAMTON, New York — November 1, 2019, 9:30 p.m. EST — NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID, Inc., has released an estimated time of restoration for customers in the Mechanicville Division impacted by today’s storms. At this time, 2,402 NYSEG customers in the division, which includes Columbia, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington counties, are without power. That’s out of 11,426 customers in the division that have been impacted since the storm began.
The company announced that it expects to restore 95% of customers impacted in those areas by 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 2nd, with the exception of some isolated small areas requiring off-road equipment, system reconstructions or customer equipment repairs. Company crews have continued work to assess damage, perform make safe activities, clear roads and make repairs. Crews will continue working throughout the night and until every customer is restored.
Currently, more than 1,400 field personnel are engaged in restoration efforts across the state. Crews have been met with challenging conditions as the weather gets colder, the terrain becomes rougher and access to remote areas require specialized equipment such as ATVs. Despite the conditions, significant progress has been made throughout the day and those efforts will continue through the overnight period. The company is also coordinating response efforts with state and local emergency management authorities in impacted areas.
NYSEG will continue to provide updates throughout the event to the general public on their website and social media channels (Facebook and Twitter). The company also offers customers the following safety reminders.
