8:45 P.M. NYSEG Responding to Outages Caused by Nor’Easter

Crews will work around the clock to restore power to all affected customers

Additional crews ready to assist with overnight restoration efforts

BREWSTER, N.Y. — September 26, 2026, 8:45 p.m. — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) is responding to outages caused by the nor’easter that has hit the East Coast this weekend. Heavy rains and wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour have affected parts of NYSEG’s service territory, with the most significant impacts in the Company’s Brewster division, which includes Dutchess, Putnam, and Westchester counties. More than 2,500 customers in Brewster division have been affected since 6 a.m. Saturday.

The Company has mobilized internal crews and contract tree and line personnel to expedite restoration efforts. NYSEG is expecting more impactful winds during the overnight hours and into Sunday morning. Crews will continue to respond to all outages until all customers have their service restored.

NYSEG urges customers to remain away from storm debris as it may contain downed wires or other damaged equipment. Customers should assume all downed wires are energized and dangerous and should be reported by calling NYSEG’s emergency line at 1.800.572.1131 or calling 911.

NYSEG will provide regular updates to the general public until complete restoration via the Company’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and X). The Company also offers customers the following reminders to stay safe during a power outage:
