NYSEG Statement on Customer Claims for Spoiled Food or Prescription Medicine

Customers with extended service outages of 72 consecutive hours or more are eligible for reimbursement for spoiled food or prescription medicine

 

LANCASTER, N.Y. — December 27, 2022, 12:30 p.m.  — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) today released the following statement regarding claims for spoiled food or prescription medicine from customers out of service for 72 hours or more.

“NYSEG’s Lancaster division (serving portions of Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Wyoming counties) had approximately 44,000 of the total 169,000 area customers affected by Winter Storm Elliott. Of those customers, seven were without power for more than 72 hours, and may be eligible to receive an extended outage bill credit and apply for reimbursement for food or medicine spoilage. The Company is contacting those customers directly to inform them.”
