NYSEG to Double Dry Ice Distribution on Friday - 10 pm
Company to distribute 130,000 pounds of dry ice through Monday
BINGHAMTON, New York — August 6, 2020, 10:00 p.m. — NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID Inc., announced that it will double its dry ice distribution on Friday in the company’s Brewster division, which includes Dutchess, Putnam, and Westchester counties. After distributing 14,000 pounds of dry ice today, the company received a shipment of 28,000 pounds this evening to be distributed to impacted customers on Friday. Through Monday, NYSEG plans to distribute more than 130,000 pounds of dry ice and more than 3,000 cases of water.
Approximately 17 ice and bottled water distribution locations will be available across the three counites in collaboration with local municipalities. Dry ice will be distributed to each municipality based on need. Customers are encouraged to visit the company’s website for the most up-to-date locations and hours of operation.
Currently, approximately 37,000 customers out of the total 102,428 customers impacted are without power in the Brewster division due to damage from Tropical Storm Isaias. The company previously announced that crews have completed their damage assessments. As a result, all customers impacted by the storm have been assigned an estimated time of restoration (ETR).
NYSEG also announced that crews will continue to work throughout the overnight, using rotations initially established during the storms’ impact phase. Overnight crews are expected to focus on emergency work near a substation as a result of a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Patterson, as well as restoring power to critical facilities identified by municipalities. Crews will also continue to complete necessary tree work overnight.
