Statement from NYSEG and RG&E Director of Emergency Preparedness, Trish Nilsen - 8:30 pm

BINGHAMTON, New York — December 1, 2019, 8:30 p.m. EST — “Despite the significant accumulations and messy conditions that many regions of our service areas have already experienced, the storm continues to evolve. Heavy snow and wintry precipitation is expected to continue through Monday night, particularly in the eastern portions of the state. As the storm continues to progress customers may face hazardous travel conditions. NYSEG and RG&E reminds the public to exercise extreme caution if traveling, as outages attributed to motor vehicle accidents involving electric poles and equipment have already been reported.

With the duration of the event expected to continue, service interruptions as a result are possible. NYSEG and RG&E have hundreds of crews positioned across the state and are ready to respond to outages as they occur. The proactive planning measures that we have implemented are designed to best serve our customers, despite the challenging conditions. The companies would like to thank all of the dedicated field resources that are braving the weather to answer the call for customers when needed.”
