NYSEG Announces Estimated Restoration Times for Customers in Lancaster Division Following Wind Storm

LANCASTER, NY — February 25, 2019 — 6:00 p.m. NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR), expects to restore power by 11:45 p.m. tonight to 95% of the more than 42,000 customers in the Company’s Lancaster Division (includes parts of Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties) that were affected by Sunday’s wind storm. The remaining customers affected on Sunday are expected to be restored by 11:35 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, February 26. Weather conditions have continued to cause interruptions today, as this remains an active storm event. Company personnel will remain engaged until all customers impacted by the storm are restored and our system is patrolled and repaired. Thus far, crews have been working non-stop to clear more than 231 downed wires, 38 broken poles and other hazards from roads to proceed safely in their efforts to restore power.

NYSEG has approximately 1,000 line, tree and service personnel focused on restoration in the Lancaster division. Additional crews are still arriving and will be added to the effort in Lancaster. All customers without power will receive individual estimated times for restoration (ETRs) and NYSEG will continue to report our progress via news and social media.

According to Erie County, warming centers are set up at the following locations:

NYSEG provided dry ice and bottled water for distribution at the Harlem Road Community Center at 4255 Harlem Road in Amherst.

In addition to company and contract resources, NYSEG obtained resources from Canada, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Jersey to address outages. NYSEG’s office in Lancaster remains open. The Company’s Emergency Operations Center for Area Command will remain open for the duration of the event.

NYSEG’s Aviation Coordinator will begin coordinating post-storm aerial sweeps in Lancaster and other divisions in western New York to conduct visual and infra-red inspections of infrastructure.
