NYSEG Response Continues Overnight 10 pm
Company working to make hazards safe and restore transmission lines
BINGHAMTON, NY — July 8, 2021, 10:00 p.m. — NYSEG is continuing to respond after severe weather associated with overnight thunderstorms impacted the region. Currently, approximately 8,600 customers out of the 20,500 total impacted customers in the company’s Binghamton division are without power. Complicating response efforts, are another round of thunderstorms that are expected to impact the region tonight. Given the severity of the damage, the company announced that restorations will extend into the weekend. Dry ice and bottled water (DIBW) will be made available to impacted customers starting tomorrow at 11 a.m. DIBW distribution details can be found on the NYSEG website, or by clicking here .
Overnight Workplan:
The company announced that crews will continue work throughout the overnight period to continue make safe hazards such as downed wires and fallen trees. Additionally, this evening, NYSEG plans to restore impacted transmission lines that feed power to substations in areas where tomorrow’s restoration will take place. Substations help supply power to thousands of customers so restoring those this evening will allow for a quicker restoration tomorrow as crews fix issues on the lines that supply power directly to customers’ homes and businesses.
