Plattsburgh, NY, April 28, 2010 (9:30 p.m.) – NYSEG crews, bolstered by a large contingent of additional personnel and equipment from across the state have been working continuously to restore power to those impacted by the late winter storm that hit the area Tuesday and Wednesday.  Approximately 18,000 NYSEG customers in the company’s Plattsburgh Division were impacted by the storm.  As of 9:00 p.m., less than 500 customers in NYSEG’s service area in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, and Hamilton counties remained without power.  Restoration efforts will continue until all customers have had their power restored; NYSEG expects power to be restored to all customers to by late Thursday.

Mark Leta, NYSEG’s manager of regional operations, attributed the speed of the restoration effort to the response of local crews and the very quick mobilization of support from utility crews from other areas. “We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding while we went about our work, and we would also like to thank the highway departments, volunteer firefighters and everyone else who assisted in our restoration efforts,” Leta said.

Any NYSEG customer who does not have power is asked to contact the company at 1-800-572-1131.
