CLCPA – Jennison Transmission Solution (JTS)

CLCPA – Jennison Transmission Solution (JTS)

As part of our commitment to provide safe, reliable service to all our customers, New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG), in conjunction with our parent company, Avangrid, is updating the electric transmission system in our service areas. While we are investing in upgrades to meet clean energy goals and the community’s growing energy demands, we are working closely with our neighbors so that improvements are performed safely and with minimal disruption to the environment and the community.

NYSEG is in the planning stages of a significant, multi-year electric transmission line project, the CLCPA – Jennison Transmission Solution (JTS), consisting of approximately 48.3 miles of rebuilt and re-routed lines in portions of Chenango and Delaware Counties. The proposed Project, previously referred to as CLCPA-Lines 946 & 949, would help meet the clean energy goals under the State’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). In addition, the Project would provide significant benefits beyond supporting CLCPA goals by meeting Bulk Electric System (BES) reliability needs under federal requirements by mitigating multiple transmission system deficiencies.

The Project includes the rebuild of the Jennison Substation in the Town of Bainbridge, the rebuild of the existing 115 kilovolt (kV) Line 946 extending from the Jennison Substation to the East Norwich Substation in the Town of Norwich, the rebuild of the existing 115kV Line 949 extending from the Jennison Substation to a tap in the Town of Hamden outside of the Fraser Substation in the Town of Delhi, and the re-route of several other transmission lines from the old Jennison Substation location to the new location. Read the project fact sheet for additional details.
