Smart Savings Rewards Thermostat Program

Get paid to use less energy

Our Smart Savings Rewards program is available to residential and small business electricity customers who install, or have installed, an eligible smart thermostat to control their central air conditioning equipment. The program offers incentives to customers when they reduce electricity use during times of peak summer electricity demand, thereby helping to alleviate the strain on New York State’s power supply. 

How Smart Savings Rewards works: Central Air Conditioning

Participants allow us to make brief limited temperature adjustments between May 1 and September 30 on days when summer electricity demand is at its highest (excluding holidays). Participation is voluntary and customers can opt out of temperature adjustments at any point by adjusting their thermostat. 

Already have an eligible Smart Thermostat?

Once enrolled, you’ll receive a $70 MasterCard e-gift card. In addition, participants receive a $20 bill credit at the end of the season when you participate in temperature adjustments. 

Don’t have a Smart Thermostat?

Purchase a Smart Thermostat at one of the participating retail locations and receive a 20% discount on a qualifying smart thermostat. Receive an additional $70 MasterCard e-gift card when you enroll your smart thermostat in our Smart Savings Reward program. Additionally, you can receive a $20 bill credit at the end of the season if you participate in temperature adjustments*. 

*Requires participation in at least one full event during the program season. Events can last 1 - 4 hours typically.
