NYSEG Prepares for Incoming Storms
Power Interruptions Possible
BINGHAMTON, NY - July 17, 2018 12:10 p.m. - NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), is monitoring weather forecasts in advance of a weather advisory for severe thunderstorms and heavy winds throughout New York. There is a particular focus on NYSEG’s Brewster (parts of Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties) and Mechanicville divisions (parts of Columbia, Saratoga, Rensselaer and Washington counties) where heavy rain and high winds may be possible this afternoon into the early evening. Customers are urged to be attentive to weather reports and prepare for the possibility of service interruptions.
NYSEG has storm readiness teams in place and, in addition to company line and tree resources, has acquired additional contract line crews that are being staged in the areas most likely to be impacted. NYSEG encourages customers to sign up for Outage Alerts to receive updates automatically by phone, text, or email as the company updates the status of any restoration progress specific to their electricity service. Outage restoration information is also available online at http://www.nyseg.com/Outages/outageinformation.html
Power Restoration Priorities
NYSEG’s first priority is to respond to known incidents of downed power lines to make the situations safe. NYSEG customers are asked to call 1.800.572.1131 to report downed wires. Once this vital public safety work is complete, the company will assess the damage to the electricity delivery system and develop a detailed restoration plan. Crews will make repairs and restore power to all affected customers as quickly as possible.
