NYSEG Pushes to Complete Restoration of Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess County Customers
BREWSTER, NEW YORK — March 9, 2018, 10:30 a.m. — NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR), continues to add line and tree crews, further growing the workforce that is repairing the electrical infrastructure damaged by two snow storms within the past week. As of 9 a.m., approximately 11,000 customers remain without power in the Brewster Division in the hardest hit areas of Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties.
NYSEG continues to acquire and redeploy resources and currently has 591 line and 238 tree personnel working in Brewster with additional resources on the way from Company locations that have completed restoration, and newly available contractor and mutual assistance partners. Restoration crews in Brewster have been focused on addressing more than 2,400 downed lines and 275 broken poles. There are currently only 12 known broken poles remaining and they will be replaced today.
NYSEG is receiving assistance from the State of New York, counties and towns with special focus on opening any remaining roadways, continuing to make safe where wires are down and completing the restoration of critical facilities. There are currently 40 National Guard personnel working around the clock to assist in completing this restoration.
Within the Liberty Division, crews are also hard at work to restore the final 451 customers without power in Sullivan County.
