NYSEG Increases its Workforce to 999 Linemen and Women, 228 Tree Crews to Complete Restoration - 11 a.m.

More Than 2,000 Personnel Continue Storm Response Efforts

BREWSTER, NY March 7, 2018, 11:00 a.m.  NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR), has 999 linemen and women, and 228 tree crews committed to restoring power to all of our customers affected by last week's storm as the heavy snow approaches the area. As of 11 a.m., approximately 12,000 customers affected by the storm were without power in Delaware, Dutchess, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties. Since the start of this devastating storm, the company has restored power to more than 173,000 customers affected by this weather event.

The focus of today's work is repairing the remaining downed power lines and poles, including many in off road or hard to access areas and continuing to coordinate with municipal partners on the final restoration activities. As NYSEG continues working throughout the day, the company is monitoring the weather and will address any new outages that may occur. NYSEG crews and contracting partners are prepared for the challenging travel and working conditions that may come with the snow forecast. There are more than 2,000 personnel responding to this weather event.

Customers who have an outage and do not see their street address listed on the outage page should report the outage online or by calling 800.572.1131. NYSEG encourages everyone to stay away from downed power lines. Lines that appear dead can be dangerous.

After the Storm

  • If a basement or home was flooded, customers should have an electrician check the home and have a plumbing and heating contractor check natural gas appliances before contacting your utility to have services turned on.
  • Turn on appliances and sensitive electronic equipment one at a time to avoid overloading circuits.
  • Replenish emergency supplies used during the storm.
  • Additional storm safety information, and available shelters, dry ice and bottled water locations will be available on NYSEG.com and on the company's Facebook and Twitter pages.
