NYSEG Progressing in Ongoing Restoration Efforts

PLATTSBURGH, NEW YORK — May 6, 2018 4:30 p.m. — NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR), continues restoration efforts to customers affected by the storms which brought wind gusts reportedly reaching 60 mph. As of 4:30 p.m., approximately 10,806 customers were still without power in the Plattsburgh region. A workforce of more than 1,600 company, contractor and mutual assistance personnel is working safely and expeditiously to restore power across the state, particularly the hardest hit areas in Clinton, Essex, and Franklin counties. Crews will continue to work until all customers are restored and the system is patrolled to ensure repairs are complete. Current customer outages by county are as follows:

  • Clinton: 3,079
  • Essex: 7,381
  • Franklin: 344

Throughout the day, workers continue to repair the more than 285 downed wires and storm damage to multiple spans of transmission infrastructure that deliver power to the Plattsburgh division. The company appreciates the support and cooperation it has received from county Emergency Operations Centers, fire and police departments, municipal officials and our customers during our restoration efforts.

The company urges everyone to stay away from downed power lines. Even lines that appear dead can be dangerous. NYSEG will provide updates and any additional information on dry ice and bottled water, estimated times of restoration and shelters on the company's website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
