NYSEG Working to Restore Power After Heavy Wet Snow - 4:15 pm
Company committed to getting all customers back as soon as possible
BINGHAMTON, NY — April 18, 2020, 4:15 p.m. EST — NYSEG, an AVANGRID company, is working to restore power after heavy wet snow brought down trees and limbs on Saturday, disrupting service to thousands of customers. While restorations are progressing as quickly and safely as possible, the company announced that some customers may not have service restored until early Sunday morning. Complicating restoration efforts are a high number of incidents impacting only one or two customers. Crews will continue their work throughout the evening and overnight period and until every customer is restored.
Recognizing the NY PAUSE has many residents sheltered at home, for everyone’s safety the company asks customers to observe a six-foot social distance if they must be near our workers and always remain outside the work zone. Allowing our crews to remain uninterrupted and focused on our work enables workers to determine damage and make repairs more quickly. The company is also coordinating response efforts with state and local emergency management officials.
The company encourages customers without power to check the outage list on their website for updated restoration times.
