Affordable Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program
We are transitioning to new multifamily energy efficiency programs and resources to better serve our communities. As a result, the Upstate New York Affordable Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program (AMEEP) will be closing at the end of 2025. Applications will be accepted through October 31, 2025.

Later this year, the Upstate Multifamily Residential Upgrades Program (UMRUP) will be launching—a new initiative designed to support energy efficiency and building electrification in affordable multifamily housing. More details are coming soon, so stay tuned!
The Affordable Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program (AMEEP) is a combined effort of the Joint Utilities of New York—a coalition of energy companies operating across the state, including NYSEG, RG&E, Con Edison, Orange & Rockland, Central Hudson, National Grid, National Fuel Gas, and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). AMEEP offers incentives for the installation of energy efficient equipment and technology to help reduce overall energy use in affordable multifamily buildings of five or more units.
What We Offer
- Free Energy assessments: Incentives up to $1,200 per unit are available for whole-building retrofits across multiple building systems such as insulation, lighting, heating, and cooling. Incentives are applied based on a system of accumulated points.
- Free installation in dwelling units of quick, easy measures such as LED lights, showerheads, programmable and WiFi thermostats, and faucet aerators.
- Incentives for smaller projects are determined by the equipment installed and/or energy savings.
